General Team Rules
- Athletes are expected to attend every practice scheduled by the coach; team chemistry and success depends on it. Be sure to schedule your classes early in the day and limit your outside commitments so you can be a valued team member.
- BE ON TIME!! If you need to get to the training room be prepared to leave when practice is starting. If for any reason you are running late, a courtesy phone call to your coach at (410) 287-1010 is the right thing to do.
- Practice is held rain or shine, assume practice is on unless you are notified otherwise.
Drug and Alcohol Policy
Cecil Colleges Athletic Department subscribes to a strict drug and alcohol policy. Athletes are not permitted to attend practices, games or away trips under the influence of drugs and / or alcohol. If an athlete is found to be under the influence, they will be immediately removed from the event and suspended from attending future teams practices and functions until a conference occurs with the Director of Athletics. Only the Director of Athletics or her / his designee can reinstate an athlete to a team. If it is found that an athlete is trafficking in drugs, that athlete will be immediately reported to the Cecil County Sheriffs Office and / or the Maryland State Police, and as indicated by the Colleges Drug Use and Alcohol Abuse Prevention Policy, may be subjected to further disciplinary measures (see College Catalog). Furthermore, using tobacco products of any kind is prohibited. As a Cecil athlete, you are a role model for younger athletes. We want and expect you to hold yourself to a higher standard.
Personal Conduct
Coaches, administrators, fellow athletes, opponents and officials all should be treated with respect. You should be the kind of player you would want to coach. If an athlete is suspended from a contest, NJCAA rules mandate that you must sit out the next game. The Director of Athletics reserves the right to extend that suspension if the situation is warranted. We want you to work hard at practice, play hard at games and enjoy yourself. We do not want you to lose perspective and develop a "winning is everything" mentality. The athletic experience at Cecil should teach you a great many things, one of which is how to win and lose with grace and dignity. It will be one of the most important skills you will ever learn.
The Media
Cecil College takes a proactive approach with the local and statewide media outlets. When an outstanding athletic performance occurs, we will notify the media on the student-athletes behalf. If a member of the media attends one of our games and approaches you for comment, please ask your head coach first. You need to be released from all team functions by your coach prior to meeting with a reporter. As a member of the College Community, all interviews and requests for interviews will go through the Athletic Director.
Equipment and Uniforms
1. Athletic equipment is lent to team members by the Athletic Department.2. Athletes are personally responsible for equipment issued to them. Any lost or unreturned items will result in a charge to the athlete of three times the cost of the item. In addition, a hold on all grades and transcripts and future registrations will be placed on your file until your account is settled.
3. All uniforms will be turned into the head coach immediately upon completion of the last game.
4. Uniforms will be laundered properly. Poorly laundered uniforms will be treated as a lost item.
