Cecil College Softball Signs North East's Ferguson and Hollister
Recent North East High School graduates Katie Ferguson and Macy Hollister have signed their
National Letters of Intent to play softball for Cecil College.
Ferguson, the 2008 Cecil County Player of the Year, was a two-time all-county selection at pitcher,
first base and outfield. She also played soccer, basketball and volleyball for the Indians and was
a member of the National Honor Society who was named to the honor roll every marking period. Ferguson
has been selected for the Cecil County Commissioners Scholarship and will pursue an associate degree
in nursing. After graduating from Cecil, she plans to obtain her bachelor's and master's degrees and
become a certified registered nurse practitioner.
Hollister played several positions in high school, but spent most of her time behind the plate at
catcher. In addition to earning two varsity letters on the softball diamond, she played two years
of basketball for the Indians. Off the field, Hollister was an honor roll student and a member of
the yearbook club. She intends to study elementary education at Cecil and then transfer to a four-year
college to complete her bachelor's degree.
"After visiting other colleges first and then looking at Cecil, not only do I feel more comfortable
there, but I think the softball program seems great and it will be a lot of fun," said Hollister.
