Project Literacy

Wouldn’t you like to get involved?
Cecil County Project Literacy is looking for volunteers!

We offer free, confidential one-on-one tutoring to teach adults basic reading and writing skills. Each student works with a trained volunteer and receives all necessary materials. YOU can help Project Literacy in one of three ways:
  • Become a trained tutor and experience the thrill of teaching someone to read.
  • Help recruit by telling people about the program, particularly adults who you think may have limited reading ability.
  • Arrange for a speaker to address your agency or organization.
Volunteer Tutor Training
Learn the skills to become a volunteer tutor for Project Literacy. Topics to be addressed include characteristics of adult learners, the Laubach Way to Reading, the Reading for Today adult reading series, and other methods of instruction such as the language experience approach. Upon completion of this course, you will be matched with a student.
For the next training dates and more information, call Carolyn Fletcher at 410-392-3366.

If you know of an adult with limited or no reading ability, please call
