Secondary Education Transfer � Physics Option

This degree provides the first two years of college for students preparing to become secondary physics teachers. Students completing the Associates of Arts in Teaching (A.A.T.) degree are eligible for admission to Maryland�s four-year colleges or universities Secondary Teacher Education Programs in Physics. To earn the A.A.T. degree, students must graduate with a 2.75 GPA, pass the Praxis I Exam[1], and complete a professional portfolio approved by the Director of Education.

The College�s computer literacy requirement is met throughout the course work in the degree program.

[1] The Praxis I Exam should be taken after completing 45 credits. For more information about the Praxis I exam, students should contact the Director of Teacher Educatio or go to www.ets.org/praxis.

[2] The Introduction to Exceptional Children and Youth course required by Cecil College is a necessary requirement of the Teacher Education Program degree but may not be sufficient to meet all special education or inclusion course requirements for four-year teacher education programs. Students may be required to take additional special education or inclusion courses as part of the requirements for a baccalaureate degree and teacher education certificate at four-year institutions.

[3] Social Science Elective must be a course designation other than PSY.
