Program Description: This program provides students with basic
medical knowledge along with the proper tools to turn a doctor's verbal dictation about
patients' medical conditions into professional, accurate medical reports that are used to
track patients' care. After laying a foundation with medical courses, the program proceeds
to the proper use of transcribing equipment, the content of a healthcare record, how to
prepare office letters, office notes, medical histories, physicals, discharge summaries,
consultations, operative, pathology and radiology reports. Also included will be training
in research, grammar and punctuation, and use of medical terminology.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Basic skills assessment in math and English (minimum 9th grade level)
- Successful completion of a basic computer & keyboarding skills assessment (Windows, Word and typing speed of 45 wpm)
