This degree provides the first two years of college for students preparing to become elementary teachers in the state of Maryland. It is designed for students desiring to transfer to a Maryland four-year college or university to earn a bachelor’s degree in elementary teacher education. This degree has been articulated with all of the transfer programs in elementary education in the State of Maryland. To earn the A.A.T. degree, students must graduate with a 2.75 GPA, pass the PRAXIS I Exam[1] and complete a professional portfolio approved by the Director of Education.
The computer literacy requirement will be met throughout the course work in the degree program.

[2] The Introduction to Exceptional Children and Youth course required by Cecil College is a necessary requirement of the Teacher Education Program but may not be sufficient to meet all special education or inclusion course requirements for four-year teacher education programs. Students may be required to take additional special education or inclusion courses as a part of the requirements for a baccalaureate degree and teacher education certification at four-year institutions.
Teacher Education Transfer - Elementary Education Option

This degree option is designed to provide the first two years of college for students preparing to become elementary education teachers. The program is designed primarily for students desiring to transfer to an out-of-state four-year college or university to earn a
bachelor’s degree in teaching. Students earning the A.A. degree must graduate with a 2.75 GPA, pass the Praxis I Exam[1], and complete a professional portfolio approved by the Director of Teacher Education. Changes in the program requirements at four-year institutions may affect the transferability of credits earned in the program.
