Cecil College has developed a Cybersecurity Center to provide access to Information Security and Information Assurance (IA) resources.

NSA/DHS Designated

Confirming its stature as a national leader in cybersecurity education, the Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Cybersecurity at Cecil College has been designated by the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education (NCAE-CDE) since 2019. This distinction recognizes colleges that are models of education and training in the information assurance field with curriculum mapped to the NSA’s latest requirements.

Degree and Certificate Programs

Cecil College offers both an associates degree program, as well as a certificate program in Cybersecurity. The Associate of Applied Science degree program is for those seeking a career in Cybersecurity who would like to transfer to a partner four year institution to get their bachelor's degree. The certificate program provides students with the skills, knowledge, and credentials to successfully begin their career in the field.

Computer Science/Cybersecurity Club

Join us for another year of the Computer Science/Cybersecurity Club at Cecil College! The club provides fun (and sometimes challenging) activities and networking events along with opportunities to successfully develop your skill set. Many employers, most notably the federal government, look for involvement in clubs such as these from their cybersecurity job applicants, and they especially like to see participation in competitions.

If you currently have little or no experience with computer science-based competitions, the Computer Science/Cybersecurity Club is the perfect solution. Our club will enter some great competitions this year, and members will have an opportunity to meet some very talented people in the field.

If you are interested in joining the club, please email Dr. James Morgan, club sponsor, at jmorgan@nullcecil.edu.

I strongly recommend you participate in this club if you are a Computer Science or Cybersecurity major, but all Cecil College students are welcome to join. It won't demand a lot of your time, and what you'll take away from it will definitely be worth it. We meet every Tuesday from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm. We hope to hear from you!

—Dr. James Morgan
