NORTH EAST, Md. – The Cecil College Foundation is proud to announce the creation of the Ann Hill Pay It Forward Memorial Fund to provide a need-based scholarship to support students enrolled at Cecil College. In the same giving spirit of Ann Hill, this fund supports technology resources, textbooks, and the College food pantry, including the Cares Cards Program.
Ms. Hill, known for her generosity and fiery spirit, was an avid competitive equestrian and lover of all animals. She was a faithful volunteer at Thorncroft Equestrian Center, specializing in therapeutic horseback riding for children and adults with mental, emotional, and physical disabilities. She worked tirelessly with Thorncroft’s horses, riders, and instructors with the common goal of keeping everyone safe. In recognition of her selfless spirit and humanitarianism, Ms. Hill received the “Strength of Human Spirit” award during the annual Thorncroft Victory Gallop gala before her death.
Born with spina bifida, Ms. Hill faced every challenge with unparalleled grit and determination to live life fully on her terms. Her passions included being a lover of all things lobster, and a chocolate enthusiast extraordinaire.
As one of seven children, Ms. Hill attended the Springside School in Philadelphia and the Vanguard School in Malvern, Pa., before graduating from Solanco High School in Quarryville, Pa. She went on to earn a certificate in childcare from Allegheny Community College in Pittsburgh and also attended Cecil College and lived in Cecil County for many years.
Ms. Hill passed away on November 28, 2019, at age 54, following a battle with cancer.
