NORTH EAST, Md: Cecil College’s Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program celebrated the Class of 2024 with a Pinning Ceremony on Wednesday, July 24, in the Technology Center on the North East Campus. The ceremony honored five students who have completed rigorous coursework and clinical training.

“These students displayed outstanding teamwork, a testament to the unity and support essential in nursing. Their journey from novice nurse to expert will be one of continuous education and lifelong learning. This program is just a stepping stone in that journey,” said Assistant Professor of Nursing Amy Smythe, MSN, RN, the Coordinator for the LPN Program at Cecil College.

LPN certificate graduates are healthcare professionals responsible for primary patient care and comfort. LPNs are essential to the patient experience and work closely with RNs and physicians. They monitor a patient’s status, manage basic care, and keep up-to-date medical records, according to the American Nurses Association (ANA).

The students honored during the Pinning Ceremony include:

Dorothy Berry Elkton, Md.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects the demand for LPNs will grow five (5) percent through 2032, much faster than the average for all occupations, with the annual mean wage in the State of Maryland being $59,730.
