NORTH EAST, Md. – Cecil College has entered into a unique partnership in which students who earn an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree at Cecil are assured admission to DeSales University, where many of them can complete their bachelor’s degree at the cost of community college tuition. Under this articulation agreement, Cecil graduates will automatically transfer as many as 75 of the 120 credit hours required for a baccalaureate degree DeSales University, located in Center Valley, Pa. These credits will essentially fulfill the majority of the core curriculum requirements for DeSales University. “Cecil College is very excited about our articulation agreement with DeSales University; a university that values a community college education and its committed graduates.  This agreement provides Cecil College graduates an opportunity to complete a highly-regarded bachelor's degree while incurring minimal debt," said Cecil College President, Mary Way Bolt, Ed.D. Cecil College students taking advantage of this articulation agreement will be required to take courses in their discipline and only four of the core courses required at DeSales: Humanities III – Great Works of Art; Humanities IV – Great Works of Literature; Intermediate Theology; and Values Seminar. In addition, transfer students must complete at least 15 three-credit courses at DeSales University to earn a degree from DeSales University. A minimum of 40 three-credit courses is required to obtain a degree. “This new partnership between DeSales University and Cecil College is not only an outstanding value and opportunity for our students, but it facilitates seamless transfer to DeSales for students to pursue their Bachelor's degree without leaving Cecil County, since these Bachelor's degrees can be completed online,” said Vice-President of Academic Programs, Christy Dryer, Ph.D. What makes this articulation agreement unique is DeSales University’s ACCESS Community College Tuition-Match Scholarship for ten online degrees. Cecil College graduates can complete their bachelor’s degree online at the community college tuition rate of $180 per credit hour (based on the national average). To qualify for this scholarship, students must have at least a 2.75 GPA and have transferred to DeSales University within six months of completing an associate degree.
