As the Cecil College women’s basketball team wraps up its season at the NJCAA Division II National Tournament this week, the program was presented further accolades with William Dockery being named Coach of the Year for Region 20 during the tournament banquet at North Arkansas Community College in Harrison, Arkansas. In his first year as head coach of the Seahawks, his team compiled a 23-7 record to qualify for the national tournament for the first time in school history. A resident of Abingdon, Md., Dockery becomes just the second coach to earn this honor for the Seahawks. Former coach Andrew Coston received this honor in 2003. “We are extremely proud of Coach Dockery, assistant coach Mike Jerome, and the entire Seahawks team for their accomplishments this season. To accomplish this feat during the College’s 50th Anniversary celebration is outstanding,” said Cecil College Athletic Director, Ed Durham. Dockery, who teaches in the Baltimore County Public School system, has also coached at Northwestern High School and Chesapeake High School.
