How do I enroll/register as a new student? (Admissions)
- Complete the admissions application online.
- If a student applies, they will receive an email with their acceptance letter attached and next steps in the process.
- Meet with an Admissions Representative: meet in person, no appointment necessary, or meet virtually, contact admissions@nullcecil.edu to schedule.
- Email SAT/ACT scores, high school and/or college transcripts to admissions@nullcecil.edu. Scores and transcripts are not a requirement for admission; however, students may receive credits or assessment exemptions after transcripts are evaluated.

Registration for credit courses begins:
- Fall Semester: April 1
- Winterim and Spring Semester: November 1
Registration for Continuing Education and Workforce Development courses begins:
- Fall Semester: May 1
- Spring Semester: December 1
Register
Registration refers to the process of enrolling in courses. Early registration is recommended to decrease the chances of exclusion from filled classes and to afford students the maximum benefit from academic advising. Students may take advantage of in-person, online, email, or telephone registration.
In-person office hours for Admissions, Registration, Advising, Cashier, and Financial Aid are posted at the top of this page. In addition, all offices are available to chat online or meet via Microsoft Teams during regular office hours. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are encouraged.
Saturday Hours in January
Student Services (Admissions, Advising, Cashier’s Office, Financial Aid, and Registration) will be open on Saturday, January 11, 2025 from 9 am to 1 pm.
- Register Online
- Go to the Registration tab at MyCecil to register for courses. Per the Registration tab, you can begin at "Steps to Register" and proceed to the "Add/Drop" portlet to generate the registration. You can also search courses by directly visiting www.cecil.edu/courses.The instructions for online registration can also be found in the current credit course schedule.
- Register via Email
- Use the registration@nullcecil.edu email address. Send us an email stating that you wish to register, and we will assist you accordingly.
- Register via Phone
- Call (410) 287-1600. Calls will be forwarded to the appropriate staff, and we will assist you accordingly.

Advising
All new students are required to register with an academic advisor for their first semester of enrollment. Students are encouraged to arrange for telephone advising/registration appointments. Please call (410) 287-1600 or email advising@nullcecil.edu to arrange an appointment. A registered student who has a disability which might impact accessibility and/or academics at Cecil College, and may require accommodations, can contact the Coordinator of Accessibility Services at accessibilityservices@nullcecil.edu.
Payment
Payment is required at the time of registration. Directions for online payment can be found at MyCecil via the Finance tab, or under "Make a Payment" per the Quick Links on the left side of the page under each tab.
In addition, you may contact the Cashier’s Office for assistance at (410) 287-1020 (calls are being forwarded to appropriate staff).
Is my course online? What are synchronous/asynchronous courses?
Cecil College’s semesters include in-person and online courses (asynchronous and synchronous), hybrid courses, and in-person labs and courses that require a "hands-on" component to facilitate an optimal educational experience.
For the most up-to-date course schedule, visit cecil.edu/courses or hover your mouse over Programs & Courses in the navigation bar at the top of any page on cecil.edu and choose Course Search from the Academics menu in the dropdown. To determine whether your course is designated as online (synchronous or asynchronous), on campus, or a hybrid, refer to the following key to learn the definition and symbol for each while choosing your courses.

ONLIN/SYNCH | Online/Synchronous | Online classes that meet virtually and are scheduled on a regularly occurring day/time throughout the semester. |

HFX | Hyflex | Classes that meet at the same day/time throughout the semester with some students attending on campus and others attending synchronously online. Both are taught by the same faculty member. Students must pick the in-person or online option when they register for the course. |
Can I complete my math and writing placement assessments online?
Yes. The math and writing placement assessments are available online. To learn more about the online assessments, please review the instructions for the math placement and the English placement. If you have any questions, please contact advising@nullcecil.edu.
What are the current Bookstore hours? (Bookstore)
Please refer the Bookstore page for hours of operation and scheduled closures. Call (410) 287-5436 or email bookstore@nullcecil.edu for any questions. You can place orders on our website, cecil.bncollege.com, for in-store pickup or to be shipped to you. For questions about financial aid, please contact the Cashier’s Office.

Library
Library services are available in person and online. Available services include:
- Instructional Services – Get help with research, the online catalog, library databases, or citations for your papers. Our Instructional Librarian is available during listed hours for all your research and instruction needs. Appointments are available in person and remote via Zoom. Please email mdagostino@nullcecil.edu or visit the Library page on MyCecil for the link to schedule.
- eBooks, Databases, Subject Guides, and Streaming Video – Available 24/7 to all Cecil College students remotely, please visit the Library tab on MyCecil for access links.
- Contact Us – Librarians will be available during listed hours. You can reach the library in person, via phone at (410) 287-1005, via email at library@nullcecil.edu, or via live chat! Live chat can be found via the Library tab on MyCecil. Chat is available during staffed hours only.

Canvas assistance can be scheduled at your convenience, Monday through Friday between 8:30 am – 5 pm by visiting https://mdagostino.youcanbook.me/ and clicking on one of the open time slots.

What online tutoring is available? (Mathematics, Reading and Writing, Engineering and Science)
Online tutoring is available for the following:

Academic Success Center (Mathematics, Reading and Writing)
The Academic Success Center provides free tutoring for students in math, reading, or writing as related to courses offered at Cecil College. The staff is experienced and can explain concepts, making sure students understand what they are learning. For more information, including tutoring hours, please visit the Academic Success Center page.
Science, Engineering, and Technology
Tutors are available for various science, engineering, and technology classes both virtually via email or Microsoft Teams as well as in-person. Follow these steps to self-enroll through Canvas where you'll find the tutoring schedule and links:
- Visit www.cecil.edu/SETT and login to Canvas with your "chawk" email address and password.
- Once logged in, you will see a homepage for the tutoring site. Click the Join this Course button on the side content area section. Then a green Enroll in Course button will appear, click that. You should automatically be enrolled into the course. Look for a link that says Go to Course and click it.
- Once you enroll, go to the Modules tab to see the tutor schedule, scientific writing help, and study links.
Tutoring is free and "walk-in" style; the lab does not take appointments. Some tutors are face-to-face, virtual only, or a hybrid of both. Tutors that are face-to-face will have a room number associated indicating where they will be during their tutoring times. The virtual tutors will have a link that goes to Microsoft Teams for virtual sessions. You can also email tutors and they will respond during their tutoring times.

How do I access academic accommodations / disability and support services?
Accessibility Services provides academic accommodations for students with disabilities. If you have a disability, whether it’s physical, mental health diagnosis, you had an IEP or 504 in high school, and more, please contact Accessibility Services for more information and to determine appropriate and reasonable accommodations for your success in college. Accommodations might include extended time on exams, use of the Testing Services, audio recording, and alternate books. For more information, send an email to accessibilityservices@nullcecil.edu.

It is our goal to provide a central location where members of our community can report behaviors of concern whether it's related to safety, misconduct, or a student’s well-being.
