ELKTON, Md: The Cecil Leadership Institute is a program designed for adults that are emerging leaders in the county to learn from each other as well as key decision makers at a wide array of businesses and organizations throughout the county.

The 25-year-old program is co-sponsored by Cecil College and the Cecil County Office of Economic Development and has more than 525 graduates. The Cecil Leadership Institute (CLI) is now accepting applications for the Class of 2025. The deadline to apply is January 21, 2025.

The Class of 2025 will begin in February, meeting on consecutive Wednesdays through May. The comprehensive 15-week program is comprised of over 75 hours of instruction and includes more than 30 distinct sessions. The sessions take place at Elkton Station and at various businesses and organizations throughout Cecil County.

Presenters provide an in-depth look at the inner working of their organization, including a tour when feasible. In addition, each presenter discusses their leadership style, the culture of the company, and its impact on the county. Complementing the local leader presentations is a core curriculum of leadership-based lectures, discussions, and exercises.

Along with developing and advancing their leadership skills, CLI participants increase their professional networks, are introduced to innovative thought leaders within Cecil County and practice critical thinking. Participants will take part in a service project aimed to address the needs of the Cecil County community by developing a specific plan of action to provide essential support to a group or organization within our community, fostering a positive impact through direct service and community engagement.
